1940’s RIVERCOOL FABRIC SUMMER SUIT - MINT

Description

This classic Hollywood patch pocket style suit was made by Interstate State Clothes, Chicago, of Rivercool Fabric; there is no union label.
Rivercool Fabric is a spun Rayon product designed for summer, lightweight suits.
It was manufactured from about 1938 into the mid- to late-1940s. There are several ads for these suits in the early 1940s; my best guess is that this suit is from the early to mid-1940s.
The fabric is a subtle houndstooth pattern in gray and cream with a thin maroon pinstripe (see fabric detail photo #5).
The
suit has a classic two-button front, notch lapels, a boutonniere, two side patch pockets, a chest patch pocket and one inside pocket; there is no rear vent.
The jacket is partially lined, all original buttons are present and it has shoulder pads.
The pants have a dual pleat front, Waldes zipper, belt loops, brace buttons, two side pockets, two rear pockets, one watch/coin pocket and cuffs.
CONDITION:
Excellent; the suit appears almost new, although it has been worn.

Measurements are taken flat and are accurate within ¼ inch without stretching the fabric:
