This is the white plastic center trim strip that sits atop the upper drip trays between the hoppers and runs from the front to the back of the machine.  There are three white plastic buttons that hide screw holes.  It can be broken in many ways, and if broken or cracked it can let water, condensate or mix down inside the machine where it will cause damage to electrical components inside the machine.  Replacement is very easy -- pop off the cover buttons, unscrew the broken piece, screw on the new piece, and pop the cover buttons back on.
