Matched Pair of Antique Wood Griffin Corbels
, in well preserved condition as pictured.
Griffins are the mythological creatures embodying both lion and eagle to empower them as guardians of treasure.
Corbels presumably of French provenance, were popular in 19thC architecture.
Each corbel with overall dimensions:
Weight: 10 lbs X Height 19-3/4" X Width 11" X Depth 5-1/2".
Please note: corbels in solid condition; one has been partially stripped of white paint as found, a few minor scuffs, nail holes, age checks, etc. and remnants of old paint.
Griffins have great potential to uniquely accent a decorum, with both corbels returned to their natural wood finish.
