    Description

    Hello and welcome to another Annabelle’s Auctions production. The only thing we love more than finding cool vintage stuff is offering the same swell items to you. We especially dig things from the Olden Days when Made in the USA was taken for granted. We will be listing a wide variety of items in the coming weeks and will of course always combine shipping in the interest of saving you dollars while saving us packing. Please read the entire description of the item and fine print below; placing a bid constitutes acceptance of all terms. And as always, thanks a bunch for looking!
    This is an absolutely stunning vintage men's three piece suit from the Golden Age of men's fashion and style. It was tailored way back in the 1940's or 1950's by Clipper Craft for the Wm. H. Block Co. of Indianapolis, which was a beloved old store here in Indy that was a shopping institution from 1874 all the way up until 1987. The fabric used feels like lovely old wool (regrettably none of the tagging says what it is specifically) that is decorated with a gorgeous, truly eye-catching pinstripe pattern of alternating maroon and yellow-goldish stripes against a charcoal gray background. You will get the complete set: jacket, vest and trousers. The jacket is a 3-button with classic cut collar, and the very cool old fashioned pockets that predated flaps at the top. The vest is a 6-button, but was cut in that jaunty retro style where the bottom button is meant to be left undone, and includes two pockets. Like the jacket, the trousers have pockets without flaps, but the left pocket features a button closure, and true to its era includes inside buttons for the attachment of pre-clip suspenders. The trousers appear to have been professionally altered over the years, common for items of this quality that were worth repairing rather than replacing. There is no indication of size on any of the three pieces, but the jacket measures to about a size 40 at approximately 20 inches across the chest when laid flat and 32 top to bottom; the vest is a hair under 19 across the chest and a hair over 24 from the top all the way down to those jaunty tips at the bottom; and the trousers are about a size 30 at 15 inches across, and measure approximately 42 from the top to the bottom cuff on the outside and 28 on the inside from the cuff up to the crotch. This beautiful suit was well stored over the past few decades, worn sparingly, and thus has remained in overall far better condition that could rightly be expected for a garment that's now 70-odd years old. All the pockets are free of holes, and the zipper and all the buttons remain fully intact and functional. The cuffs of both the pants and jacket show no fraying. It is free from stains and rips throughout, but does have a couple tiny pinholes common to wool of such age, which we didn't even notice until we went looking for imperfections, and the worst of which we included pictures of alongside a pencil for scale. We're limited to only a dozen photos so we tried to pick the most important ones, but other photos are available upon request. This suit is a masterpiece of bygone American craftsmanship and quality, and would look great simply displayed in a vintage clothing collection if not worn. This is truly a museum worthy item!

    THE FINE PRINT:
    REGARDING CONDITION: Because almost everything we sell is vintage, almost everything is no longer new and as such is being sold under a general heading of As Is. We describe everything accurately and go out of our way to point out flaws, but it is the responsibility of the buyer to ask any questions regarding any points of concern not covered in the item description. PAYMENT/SHIPPING: Prompt payment through PayPal is appreciated. Please do not bid if you do not intend to pay. If purchasing multiple items, please wait for us to send you a combined shipping invoice for the best possible shipping cost. We ship every other day through USPS, mostly through Priority or Parcel, but for LPs, books, DVDs and other eligible items we also offer Media Mail.
    Media Mail is subject to inspection by USPS, and the Seller cannot be held accountable for any damage that may occur at the hands of clumsy USPS employees during shipment.
    If payment is made before noon Midwest time, we will do everything we can to ship that very same day. RETURNS: In the unlikely event a refund needs to be requested, we reserve the right to issue a full refund upon return or no refund at all;
    absolutely no partial refunds will be given!
    The only negative feedback we have ever received came from someone trying to extort a partial refund through a threat of negative feedback, so if that’s your game please look elsewhere!
